How the Program Works

A step-by-step overview of the application and approval process.

1

Submit Application

Apply online, by PDF mail/email, or drop off at any Access PEI location. One application covers all three programs.

2

Intake Review

Your application is reviewed for eligibility. You'll receive a letter confirming your status and next steps.

3

Get 2 Quotes

Obtain 2 competitive quotes from contractors within 90 days of receiving your letter. Contact the office if you need an extension.

4

Approval Letter

Quotes are reviewed and an approval letter is issued stating the grant amount to be funded.

5

Complete Work

You have 6 months from the approval letter to complete approved renovations. Extensions can be requested.

6

Get Paid

Submit invoices and a Request for Payment form. Pre/post inspections may be required before payment is released.

Grant Scale by Income

The maximum grant amount is determined by your combined household income. Prioritize your renovation requests in the application to those that meet your greatest need, as funding is limited. Lower incomes generally qualify for higher grant amounts.
